Natural areas in the City of Wanneroo will be boosted with almost 8,000 new plants over the coming months.
The City of Wanneroo’s annual winter Community Planting Events kick off in June, with local residents invited to come along and help rejuvenate bushland, foreshores and dunes across the City.
Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said it was a great opportunity to get out into the community and revegetate the City’s natural areas.
“Winter is just around the corner, making it the perfect time for planting,” Mayor Roberts said.
“The planting day planned for Long Beach Reserve in Mindarie coincides with National Tree Day, and the City will provide 5000 plants for this one location – so we encourage as many people as possible to lend a hand.”
The species being planted complement the existing vegetation in each site, including Banksia/Jarrah woodland species, coastal heath/shrubland and grassland.
