Antique Roadshow-style event comes to Wanneroo for Seniors Week

Ever wondered how much your great grandmother’s tea set could fetch you at auction?

The City of Wanneroo will host an Antique Roadshow-style event for residents on 14 November as part of its WA Seniors Week 2018 activities.

Peter McKenzie from McKenzies Auctioneering, Valuers and Exhibitions will be on hand to appraise items and provide valuations, free of charge.

Bring along your family heirlooms, op-shop finds, antique jewellery and bric-a-brac to be valued, or just come along for a cuppa and to watch all the fun.

Afternoon tea is included and bookings are essential:

Theatrette, Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre, 3 Rocca Way, Wanneroo

The Antiques Uncovered event is supported by the Department of Communities and the Council of the Ageing WA.

City of Wanneroo libraries are hosting free coffee catch ups during Seniors Week for people who are interested in getting the most out of going online.

The federal initiative Be Connected aims to increase digital literacy in the community.

Get the internet to work for you and discover new skills and experiences.

Be Connected sessions will be regularly held at City libraries, with topics such as searching for information and using email, shopping online, using social media and smartphones.

  • Tuesday 13 November //10am-11am at Yanchep/Two Rocks Library
  • Tuesday 13 November // 1.30pm-2.30pm at Clarkson Library
  • Wednesday 14 November // 1.30pm-2.30pm at Wanneroo Library

Mayor Tracey Roberts said Seniors Week provides an ideal opportunity to recognise the City’s older residents.

“Our Seniors are such a valued and integral part of the City of Wanneroo, contributing to the City’s community spirit and social fabric,” Mayor Roberts said.

“These types of events during Seniors Week are just a small token of appreciation to acknowledge their contribution and importance to the City.”
