The Wanneroo Community Recreation Centre will celebrate 40 years of supporting the local community with a plaque unveiling this month.
The City of
Wanneroo invited community organisations and stakeholders to a morning tea on
30 March to unveil the plaque and view a selection of historic photos from the
centre’s archives.
Mayor Tracey
Roberts said the event gave community groups the opportunity to celebrate and reminisce
about the centre’s long-standing history.
“The City of Wanneroo
thrives on its local community and sporting groups and the Community Recreation
Centre has served as an important community hub for many years,” Mayor Roberts
said.
“It is only
fitting we commemorate its past and continuing service to the community.”
The Centre
has a main sports hall with basketball, badminton, netball, volleyball and
gymnastics facilities, male and female change rooms, two large activity rooms
for functions and meetings and two smaller activity rooms.
The centre is
used by 37 community groups.
The Centre’s facilities are available to hire on a
casual, annual and seasonal booking basis by contacting a Community Facilities
Officer on 9405 5000 or online.
