Wanneroo Remembers: Centenary of Armistice

At the time of committing to the war cause, Australia had a population of less than five million; 416,809 men enlisted, of whom more than 60,000 were killed and 156,000 wounded, gassed or taken prisoner.

Some 23 members of the Wanneroo community served in what was known at the time as the ‘War to End All Wars’.

In the 100 anniversary year of the end of the global conflict, their stories are told in the exhibition, Wanneroo Remembers: The Centenary of Armistice.

Armistice, or Remembrance Day, services will also be held throughout the City of Wanneroo on Sunday 11 November.

The Wanneroo RSL, in conjunction with the Naval Association, will host a commemoration service and concert at Memorial Park on Civic Drive in Wanneroo, commencing at 10.45am.

Marking the 100 year anniversary of The Signing of the Peace, the commemoration service will include a tree dedication ceremony depicting seven conflicts of the 20th century.
