Kingsway Aquatic Play Space concepts get the nod

Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex’s Aquatic Play Space construction draws nearer as concept plans for its dinosaur themed splash pad were endorsed at the City of Wanneroo’s October Council meeting.
The splash pad concept is based on a traditional zero-depth splash pad similar to the facility provided at Wanneroo Aquamotion.
The $500,000 investment, inclusive of design, planning and construction, is intended to reflect the prehistoric themes of the neighbouring Dinosaur Park and aims to provide a range of interactive experiences.
City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the themed splash pad was sure to be a welcome addition to Kingsway.
“The splash pad will feature a range of sprays and jets, each of which will create different water movements such as flowing, misting and jetting, to delight our young residents,” Mayor Roberts said.
“Council carefully considered concepts to ensure the new splash pad will not only be safe for all ages, but also water wise, using as little water as possible by utilising a water recirculation
system.”
Two underground tanks and an equipment room feature as part of the concept and will serve to collect, treat and pump water through the play space.
The expected completion date is June 2019.
