Students from schools across the cities of Wanneroo, Joondalup and Stirling will feature in the first exhibition of the year at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre Gallery.
Opening to the public on 16 February, Northern Perspectives gives year 11 and 12 visual arts students the opportunity to exhibit their work in a quality public gallery.
Now in its fourth year, the 2018 exhibition will showcase the work of more than 50 students across a range of categories including painting, drawing, print making and mixed media; sculpture and ceramics, electronics and textiles; and photography and design.
Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said she was proud the City gave students the unique opportunity to display their work in a professional setting.
“This is such a wonderful way for students to showcase their outstanding art to the public, and have the opportunity to offer their work for sale,” Mayor Roberts said.
“We have also found it builds confidence and encourages them to continue their art outside the nurturing environment of school.”
Schools involved in the exhibition include: Ashdale Secondary College, Balcatta Senior High School, Butler College, Churchlands Senior High School, Kingsway Christian College, Mercy College, Mindarie Senior College, Perth College, Peter Moyes Anglican Community School, Sacred Heart College,St Mary's Anglican Girls School, St Stephen's School, Carramar, St Stephen's School, Duncraig and Wanneroo Secondary College.
An Overall Encouragement Award and City of Wanneroo Resident Encouragement Award will be presented prior to the exhibition opening to the public. The People’s Choice Award will be decided by the audience so make sure you vote for your favourite artwork.
