Work has officially commenced on the Koondoola Community Centre and Kingsway baseball/softball club rooms, as the City continues to upgrade and improve community and sporting facilities for residents.
City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the new Koondoola Community Centre and Kingsway Baseball club rooms showed the City's continued investment in providing modern, first-class facilities across the City.
The Koondoola Community Centre will provide a much needed addition to the Koondoola area for community groups to come together, meet and interact as well as providing local sporting teams with improved facilities with a canteen, spectator terrace and male and female change rooms.
The $3.5million facility will also include a main hall, secondary hall, kitchen facilities, office, meeting room, a court yard, toilet facilities, store rooms and landscaping.
The new $2.17million Kingsway baseball/softball club rooms will comprise of a hall, kitchen and canteen facilities, a spectator terrace, court yard, male and female change rooms, toilet facilities and store rooms.
"The new baseball/softball club rooms at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex are part of the next stage of sporting and club room upgrades to make the complex one of Western Australia's premier sporting precincts," Mayor Roberts said.
"These club rooms are a very welcome addition for the baseball and softball clubs operating in the area and will provide a first-class venue for both training and games."
Construction on the two projects commenced onsite in January, with both projects expected to be completed by December 2015.
