The story of Anne Frank comes to Wanneroo
Published Monday, 13th November 2017
The City of Wanneroo’s Gallery is set to host an exhibition that tells the fascinating story of Anne Frank; a Jewish girl who went into hiding during WWII to escape from the Nazi movement.
Together with seven others, she hid for more than two years in a secret annex in Amsterdam.
The thought-provoking travelling exhibition ‘Let Me Be Myself, the Life Story of Anne Frank’ was compiled in Amsterdam and tells the personal story of Anne Frank in the historical context of her time.
The exhibition also specifically highlights the relevance of her story in contemporary society, particularly in relation to prejudice, discrimination and exclusion.
Opening this Friday, 10 November, ‘Let Me Be Myself, the Life Story of Anne Frank’ will run until Friday, 22 December.
The free exhibition displays include a booklet about the rise of Nazism, a yellow sixpointed star which Jewish people were forced to wear, a model of the Frank family’s hiding place and a replica of the original hand-written diary Anne received on her 13th birthday. It is also supported by a 25 minute video.
