Six sporting groups will benefit from funding provided by the City of Wanneroo for events to be held throughout the second half of this year.
The funding, totalling in excess of $8,500, will assist with part of the costs for residents to participate in sporting activities either locally, interstate or overseas.
The City encourages community wellbeing and active and healthy lifestyles, and the funding granted aligns with this policy.
The grants included:
- $600 to Tenpin Bowling WA for a trip to Sydney for the Tenpin Bowling Australia Nationals in June.
- $1,500 to Black Swan Taekwondo for the CK Malaysian Open Championships held in August.
- $1,500 to the under 15s Joondalup Brothers Rugby Union Football club for a rugby tour to Singapore in October.
- $1,000 to Goju-Kai Sports Inc. for the Karate Global Championships in Canada in September.
- $2,730 waiver in the hire fees at Kingsway Indoor Stadium for the under 15s National Badminton Championships in September.
- $1,200 to School Sport WA Inc. towards the School Sport Australia Swimming National Championships in Adelaide in December.
