Road works to widen Marmion Avenue are on target to be completed by July 2017 apart from some minor delays associated with the relocation of streetlighting poles around the Jindalee/Kingsbridge Boulevard intersection, the works are progressing well. A significant portion of Marmion Avenue will operate with the new lanes by mid-June 2017, with the balance of ancillary works completed by July 2017.

There will be minor short-term closures of some side roads on Marmion Avenue within the road upgrade for less than one day to install a drainage crossing and green surfacing in the cycle lane.

The green cycle lanes have been delineated at each intersection to clearly highlight areas for each road user to operate within. Marmion Avenue is used by on-road cyclists the delineation will help to create clear defined areas of use that will improve safety for on-road cyclists and better appreciation by motorists and pedestrians.

Most of the widening is completed with paving and mulching presently occurring. Linemarking is scheduled to occur by mid-June 2017. Some sections of Marmion Avenue  around the Jindalee/Kingsbridge Boulevard intersection require outstanding streetlighting poles to be relocated, which will then allow for widening to be completed at those locations, followed by the completion of paving and mulching ie ancillary activities.

The streetlighting work is dependent on Western Power scheduling.

Road construction works to Pipidinny Road are completed with the guard rails on the verge being installed by mid June 2017 and the linemarking is expected to be completed by Main Roads in July 2017.

The cost of the upgrades to Pipidinny Road is $580,000.
