Celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime
Published Wednesday, 17th May 2017
City of Wanneroo libraries will join with an expected 500,000 participants across Australia for an exciting literary event next Wednesday, 24 May.
National Simultaneous Storytime will feature The Cow Tripped over the Moon being read at the same time in libraries in every state, as part of Library and Information Week 2017.
The annual campaign promotes the value of reading and literacy by linking libraries, schools and daycare centres in a simultaneous reading session of the children’s book written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood.
“Reading is an important life skill to have, and this event encourages children to embrace and enjoy books,” Mayor Tracey Roberts said.
“More than 16,000 items are being loaned from City of Wanneroo libraries each week, showing how appreciated and well-loved this important community service is,” she said.
“This event is just one of the many we hold at our libraries over the year, and we look forward to welcoming children from our local community to take part in this special event.”
