Rezoning information

The City of Wanneroo is awaiting clarification on the timing of key physical infrastructure including water supply, sewerage, power, gas, communications and transport from State Government agencies, which will allow it to progress rezoning plans for East Wanneroo.

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City is fully aware that many residents are keen for the rezoning to be progressed. However a whole of government approach is needed to resolve some complex issues to ensure a seamless planning approval process and as Mayor she is keen to provide them with some certainty.

"Unfortunately the commencement of infrastructure works can only be determined by the State Government and its agencies as these are State responsibilities."

Specifically, clarification is required on the provision of mains water supplies, sewerage, power, gas, communications and road infrastructure to support urban development.

"I have requested an urgent meeting with the Minister for Planning to seek his assistance in resolving these issues on behalf of the local community."

It is the City’s intention to finalise the amendment to Local Planning Policy 5.3: East Wanneroo. The timing of when this report will be presented is dependent upon the response received from the State Government.

"The City of Wanneroo will continue to work with the State Government to resolve these issues as soon as possible," Mayor Roberts assured.
