Celebrations as residents embrace new community hub

The Pearsall Hocking Community Centre has become the heart of neighbourhood activity and will be officially opened next week.
Mayor Tracey Roberts said the multi-purpose centre was designed to meet the needs of the growing community and serve as a local hub.
“In the short time the centre has been open it is clear that residents and community groups have opened their hearts to it,” Mayor Roberts said.
“Communities need places to meet, share, enjoy and be proud of – this centre provides all those qualities and is close to the school and shopping precinct, providing convenient access for everyone.
“There is a strong sense of ownership of this first-class facility within the community and the centre has proved to be a welcome addition to the suburbs of Pearsall, Hocking and surrounds.
“I encourage everyone to join in the free celebrations and to find out more about the services being offered at this fabulous centre which can improve your health and connect you with your neighbourhood.”
As part of the official opening community stalls will offer information on children’s health services, art/craft, dancing, fitness, martial arts and church services. Free activities include a small animal farm, bouncy castle, sausage sizzle and face painting.
The $3.9m centre includes a function area, kitchen, meeting/activity rooms, offices, playgroup space and outdoor playground. End-of-trip facilities for cyclists include showers, change rooms and lockers.
