A master plan for activities at City of Wanneroo reserves has identified almost 200 individual projects with a value of more than $70 million.
The master plan was endorsed at Council’s October meeting and follows two years of intensive consultation with sporting and other user groups.
Mayor Tracey Roberts said the outcomes of the Active Reserves Master Plan (ARMP) were a testament to the value of community input to long term planning.
“I want to thank community reference groups, sporting user groups and clubs for their participation in surveys, workshops and general comments on the plan,” she said.
“The City promotes active communities and the opportunity to experience a healthy lifestyle.
“The master plan gives us evidence-based needs to assist in decision making for the funding and timing of projects.
“The purpose of ARMP process has been to guide the development of infrastructure to promote activity, help maximise the flexibility and use of each reserve in the City and feed into our 20-year capital works project, as well as broader strategic planning for community facilities.
“Of the more than $70 million worth of identified projects, $37 million is for upgrades to existing active reserves while the remainder is to activate new reserves, such as Banksia Grove, Butler North and Yanchep.”
