City terminates Yanchep Surf Club Contract

The City of Wanneroo has terminated its contract with the contractor of the new Yanchep Surf Club, citing a substantial departure from the approved construction program without reasonable cause.
DGX Construction was formally notified of the termination on Thursday, 29 September 2016.
The City’s Assets Director Harminder Singh said the City has now taken possession and will secure the site.
“There had been an adequate performance for several months from the award of the contract in February; however from August the City had become increasingly concerned with the departure from the approved program,” he said.
The City’s immediate plan is to facilitate parking and access to the existing surf club building, as well as a pedestrian access to the beach, whilst it undertakes the procurement process
for appointing a new contractor to finish the building.
Evaluation and documentation of the remaining work will be fast-tracked to allow for a new tender to be called this year.
