Council invites community to weigh in on waste
Published Wednesday, 31st August 2016
The City of Wanneroo is seeking feedback from residents on their Draft Strategic Waste Management Plan which promotes recycling and minimises sending waste to landfill.
The City would like to thank the community for its input and feedback on the City’s waste services that was done through an online survey during April and May 2016. Over this period, the City received nearly 750 responses and the information collected has been used to inform the recommendations and action plan within the proposed Strategic Waste Management Plan (“SWMP”) and waste operations generally.
With nearly 38,000 tonnes of mixed waste from Wanneroo going into landfill each year, the City is committed to developing a Waste Management Strategy that will continue to improve recycling with the aim of reducing waste to landfill by 65 per cent by 2020.
The City is asking locals to read over the draft strategy and give their feedback – taking in to account their own perceptions, experiences and expectations for the City’s waste management service delivery in the future.
Community input is essential to help identify any issues or opportunities associated with the strategy.
The strategy, along with a brief information sheet is available to view on the City’s website. Alternatively, hard copies of the Strategy can be viewed at the City's Civic Centre, Libraries or at Hainsworth, Banksia Grove or Yanchep Community Centres.
Please complete the feedback form by clicking below, or send your feedback into the City before Monday 19 September 2016.
