According to an independent survey commissioned by the City of Wanneroo, 90 per cent of residents were happy to live in the City, including 61 per cent who were delighted.

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the survey addressed a number of areas designed to provide a valuable insight into residents' needs, which will assist the City in providing the best services for the community.

"Our purpose is to better understand community needs and evaluate their perceptions against key performance indicators in our Strategic Community Plan," she said.

"The survey results show there has been a general upward trend in performance across a number of service areas, which is a great result.

"Based on previous years, the areas where satisfaction is up considerably included safety and security, how the community is informed, efficiency and effectiveness of customer services, events and services and facilities for youth.

"People have always loved the natural assets of Wanneroo, but the overwhelming message from this survey is that they also value the facilities, services and cultural activities."

As a governing organisation, 81 per cent were satisfied with the City of Wanneroo's performance including 48 per cent who were delighted, rating the City an eight or higher out of 10.

Other areas where public satisfaction is growing stronger include:

  • Conservation and environmental management
  • Water resource management
  • Management and control of traffic on local roads
  • How visible rangers are in the community
  • Economic development and job creation

Surveys were carried out by CATALYSE in October 2014. Residents and businesses were surveyed by phone by the ECU Survey Research Centre, with quotas set by age, gender and location.
