The City of Wanneroo is buzzing after its biggest tourism event which attracted over 50,000 spectators to the area.
The Wanneroo Museum's Heritage High Tea took place on Friday at Buckingham House and was a huge success. I brought my mum-in-law and nan-in-law and they had an absolutely excellent time, made some friends and left having developed an interest in local history and events that they had not yet discovered for themselves. A+++ everyone!
The City of Wanneroo is buzzing after its biggest tourism event which attracted over 50,000 spectators to the area.
The V8 Supercars Supersprint was held at Barbagallo Raceway from 6-8 May. This popular three day event brought huge tourism dollars, generating more than $3.8 million for the state.
Mayor Tracey Roberts is proud that the world-class Perth Supersprint, the biggest event on the regional calendar, is held in the City of Wanneroo and says it’s a great event for the local community.
The Mayor said, “The Perth Supersprint and the V8 Supercars are very important for the local economy and bring wonderful tourism opportunities to the City of Wanneroo and the State. They encourage interstate and overseas visitors to the region and provide a real boost to our hotels, restaurants and other service providers.”
Market gardens are located just minutes from the raceway and Nissan Motorsport included local vegetables on the menu for their drivers.
Rick Kelly, one of Australia’s most high-profile V8 Supercar drivers said, “I love the produce Wanneroo has to offer. Coming here and enjoying the market fresh food that’s grown just minutes from the track is really special.”
Just a few kilometres south of Barbagallo Raceway is the emerging Neerabup area which has the potential to provide up to 20,000 jobs. The City of Wanneroo is committed to developing the area which will include an expansion of the motor park precinct.
