The City of Wanneroo has welcomed the completion of upgrades at the Two Rocks Marina which are set to double boat launching capacity in the area.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the $1.2 million upgrade, funded by the State Government, would significantly benefit local boat owners and the volunteer marine rescue.

"Enjoying the terrific maritime environment is a big part of the Wanneroo lifestyle and this upgrade will benefit many locals including our Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group," she said.

"The Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group is a not for profit organisation and has provided assistance to the Western Australian boating public since 1991,” she said.

“The group is operated by those who willingly dedicate their time to provide on-the-water assistance, radio coverage, finance reporting, training and maintenance of equipment for the local and wider community.

“They rescue and help vessels in distress and it is vitally important they have the facilities they need to do their job effectively.”

Work at the marina included upgrading the car park, widening the boat ramp and installing a new central floating jetty, as well as new access paths, solar lighting and signage upgrades.

“Our northern corridor is a rapidly growing, thriving community and the City is extremely pleased to see the completion of upgrades at this popular and important facility,” Mayor Roberts said.
