Notice of Proposal to Make a Local Law

The City is in the process of updating its local laws.
As part of this program it is intended to make the following:
Dogs Local Law
The purpose of the proposed Dogs Local Law is to make provisions about the impounding of dogs, to control the number of dogs that can be kept on the premises and the manner of keeping of those dogs, including kennels.
The effect is to extend the controls over dogs which exist under the Dog Act 1976 and Regulations.
Cats Local Law
The purpose of the proposed Cats Local Law is to set a ‘standard number’ of cats that may be kept on premises.
The effect is that persons must not keep more than the standard number of cats unless provided for by the local law, the Cat Act, or its associated Regulations.
Bee Keeping Local Law
The purpose of the proposed Bee Keeping Local Law is to require bee keepers to obtain a permit from the City and to set out conditions.
The effect is that persons must not keep bees without a permit, and must comply with the conditions of the permit.

Site Erosion and Sand Drift Prevention Local Law
The purpose of the proposed Site Erosion and Sand Drift Prevention Local Law is to provide for the regulation, control and management of site erosion, sand and dust on land within the City.
The effect is that owners and occupiers of land are required to take practicable measures to prevent erosion and the movement and escape of sand and dust.

Fencing Local Law
The purpose of the proposed Fencing Local Law is to provide a ‘sufficient fence’ for the purposes of the Dividing Fences Act 1961 and to state the materials to be used and safety measures to be undertaken in relation to some types of fencing.
The effect is that fencing in the district will need to comply with the definition of a ‘sufficient fence’ as stipulated in the local law and its other provisions.

The proposed Local Laws may be inspected at the City of Wanneroo offices at 23 Dundebar Rd, Wanneroo during normal office hours. Electronic copies of the Local Laws can be downloaded by clicking the relevant link above.
Submissions may be made to the Chief Executive Officer, City of Wanneroo by 4.00pm on 13 May 2016.
