Step back in time in your dancing shoes at Retro Rewind
Published Monday, 1st February 2016
Retro Rewind is back in 2016 due to overwhelming demand and the success of last year’s event.
This year, Retro Rewind will feature the Vintage Collective Markets, showcasing vintage hot rods, a vintage fashion parade, and workshops and activities to get the whole family feeling retro.
Crowds will be entertained by Randa and the Soul Kingdom, a band that promises to have everyone up swing dancing and toe-tapping.
The six piece soul group brings a 1970s classic funk sound with a fresh edge. The seasoned performers will cover greats including James Brown and Aretha Franklin, as well as contemporary music of Pharrell Williams and Daft Punk. They will also serenade the crowd with their own original music.
Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City’s highly anticipated free event honours the classics of the 1950s to 1970s and should not be missed.
“Make sure you are there to celebrate all things vintage, enjoy live retro tunes by Randa and the Soul Kingdom and see a fabulous vintage fashion parade,” she said.
“This fantastic family friendly event offers music, activities, vintage markets and displays which will bring back many happy memories - whatever your age the event will be lots of fun.”
Visitors will be able to browse 60 stalls and attend workshops at Retro Rewind, which will be held in Yanchep National Park.
The event is free and park entry fees will be waived specially for event attendees.
