Mayor calls on government to make City road safe

A dangerous section of Wanneroo Road in Nowergup can no longer be ignored by the State government, thanks to City residents who took part in the RAC's Risky Roads campaign.
The stretch of road has been named as one of the 10 worst roads in the Perth metropolitan area.
Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts extended her thanks to all residents who helped join the fight for safer roads in the City by submitting a nomination.
"The City of Wanneroo has long campaigned for the State government to upgrade Wanneroo Road between Joondalup Drive and Menchetti Road to a dual carriageway," Mayor Roberts said.
"This is a campaign that Councillor Norm Hewer and former councillor Rudi Steffens have been spearheading for a number of years, with strong support from all elected members.
"Over the past three years we have written to both the Premier and Minister for Transport requesting financial commitment to this project, and now thanks to the results of the Risky Roads campaign, our concerns have been well and truly backed up and can no longer be ignored."
