Generous community spirit behind Mayor’s Christmas Appeal success

The City of Wanneroo’s Mayor Tracey Roberts has sincerely thanked everyone who donated to her Christmas appeal this year.

“Those who gave so generously must be applauded for thinking of others less fortunate than themselves – this clearly demonstrates true community spirit alive and well in our wonderful City.  Donations were much higher than last year which is a credit to our community,” she said.

“More than 30 schools and businesses registered to receive red collection bins, with 51 bins distributed around the City to accept donations of non-perishable food, toys and gifts.

“We were delighted with how much was kindly donated and the goods were made into hampers and presents for local families.

“The toys included lovingly handmade children’s chairs, doll beds and play car garages by Selwyn Anderson.  I was so pleased to see the heart and soul that went into the donations.

“The recipient families were chosen by the City’s financial counsellors who provide a caring and supportive service to those in need throughout the year and the hampers will certainly help ease the financial stress for families and bring a lot of joy.”
