Make road safety a priority

Published Wednesday, 18th November 2015

The City of Wanneroo is urging road users to be vigilant and make safety a priority during the coming festive season.

Road Ribbon for Road Safety
The City is joining forces with the Western Australian Local Government Association’s RoadWise program and is supporting the new Road Ribbon for Road Safety campaign which raises awareness during the festive season.

Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City’s long term vision is for a road transport system that supports safe and accident free journeys.

“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility and we all have a role to play - by doing the right thing - obeying road rules, signs, speed limits and driving to the conditions,” she said.

“I urge all visitors and residents to do what they can to stay safe - that means no drink driving and no speeding.  Do not use your mobile while at the wheel, and make sure everyone wears their seatbelt, no matter how short the journey.”

The campaign strives towards zero fatalities in line with the state wide road safety strategy.

The Road Ribbon for Road Safety campaign runs until 8 January next year and ribbons are available free at the Wanneroo Civic Centre and City libraries.

More information about the campaign can be found at www.roadwise.asn.au or by contacting the City’s transport and traffic team on 9405 5072.
