The Girrawheen Hub Precinct Redevelopment project progresses, with the design services tender to open from 31 August 2024.
The latest round of community consultation revealed strong support in favour of the Girrawheen Hub Precinct Masterplan which includes guiding concepts for the redevelopment.
Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken said she was pleased to see the project progress to the tender design phase.
“The redevelopment of this precinct is set to breathe new life into the heart of Girrawheen, and to have received such a positive response from local community groups and residents is fantastic,” she said.
“The proposed design will allow us the better cater to precinct users, with a new library, community centre and garden facilities, in a modern, accessible and welcoming environment.
“Once completed, the precinct will also offer local community groups and service providers with a wide range of opportunities through new meeting room facilities and opportunities for tenancies.”
To bring this vision to life, the City is seeking $20 million in external funding to support the construction stage of the project.
Ongoing community consultation will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the precinct redevelopment, ensuring the project meets the needs and aspirations of the community.
Tender submissions will be accepted from 31 August to 27 September 2024, with construction timelines and project budgets to be defined through this process.
