Visitors to the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre will notice a magnificent display of poppies, which were handmade by members of the community and students from Hocking Primary School.
City
of Wanneroo Mayor, Tracey Roberts thanked the school and its students for their
contribution of 600 poppies to the 5000 Poppies project, to remember those who served
in World War One.
"The display is a beautiful tribute to our Anzacs and students with help
from their art teacher, Miss Sveinbjornsson, have been dedicated to this
project and I commend them for their efforts," she said.
"Hocking Primary School have also created their own
significant display of poppies at the school and they should be very proud of
their achievement
"The Wanneroo
Library and Cultural Centre is one of only five collection points in Western
Australia and I am happy that our community has become so actively involved in
such symbolic project."
The museum has collected more than 3000 poppies and the
display will be on show from 29 October to 25 November to coincide with
Remembrance Day.
