City of Wanneroo resident wins People’s Choice Award at 2015 Art Awards.

Zen aesthetic

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said Hocking resident Torryn Edmonds’ painting “Zen Aesthetic” was chosen, from more than 200 other works, as the most popular at the City’s 2015 Art Awards.

“We have many talented residents in our City and I am so proud that a local was awarded with the coveted People’s Choice Award,” she said.

“Torryn is clearly very talented and it is not surprising that her intricate and vibrant painting resonated with so many.”

Mrs Edmonds said she was “chuffed” her painting “Zen Aesthetic” was chosen. The 29-year-old was awarded $600 as People’s Choice Award winner.

Mrs Edmonds said the acrylic and watercolour work took about 40 hours to complete, done in painstaking two hour blocks, after her toddler was put to bed at night.

Mrs Edmonds said her love of art was sparked in early childhood and she’s proud that family, friends and strangers enjoyed her work so much that they took the time to vote for it.
