2015 Art Awards winners announced

Jamie Worsley was named the overall winner of the 2015 City of Wanneroo Art Awards, which saw him take home the grand prize of $7,500 for his piece titled 'Astuera'.

Judges praised his stunning blown glass sculpture as being technically very proficient.

“The variety of views into the sculpture is absolutely intriguing—the contrast of texture is quite seductive.”

Winners were announced at the opening of the exhibition on Friday evening at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre, with $16,800 worth of prize-money awarded. 

Categories and prizes:

  • City of Wanneroo Open Award (acquisitive) - $7,500: Jamie Worsley (Highgate)
  • Best City of Wanneroo Resident - $2000: Jennifer Sadler (Carramar)
  • Highly Commended City of Wanneroo Resident - $1000: Karyn Nelson (Two Rocks)
  • Painting Overall - $1400: Christine Hingston (Mundaring)
  • Painting Highly Commended - $500: Alan Muller (Heathridge)
  • Sculpture Overall - $1400: William Dennis (Wanneroo)
  • Sculpture Highly Commended - $500: Adam Logie (Yanchep)
  • Works on Paper Overall - $1400: Elizabeth Marruffo (Bayswater)
  • Works on Paper Highly Commended - $500: Julie Podstolski (North Coogee)
  • Visitors to the exhibition can take part in the judging of the People's Choice Award ($600) by nominating their favourite artwork.

    The free exhibition is open to the public until Saturday 13 June.
