Help transform Wanneroo into a winter wonderland

Published Monday, 11th May 2015

Residents from across the City are invited to join staff in tree planting events during June and July to beautify the City and add greenery to its parks and reserves.

Tree planting

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City embarked on a winter tree planting program each year to rehabilitate and increase the biodiversity of its natural areas.

“In 2015 we are inviting members of the community to join in this fantastic program and take part in greening our City with seven tree planting events to be held at five locations across the City.”

The final event will be held in celebration of National Tree Day, Sunday 26 July.

The winter tree planting program allows the plants to grow and become established before the warmer summer months. In addition, winter planting also creates cost efficiencies as water trucks are not required to water the plants during periods of rainfall.

Mayor Roberts encouraged residents to attend and said it was a fantastic opportunity for individuals and families alike to get involved in a community event.

Participation in these events is free, however registration is necessary.

To register for the events, please contact the City’s Conservation team on 9405 5000. Once registered, participants will need to bring gloves, a trowel, and a water bottle and wear sturdy shoes on the day of planting.
