Capture Your Wanneroo Experience competition winners announced
Published Tuesday, 28th April 2015
Eleven talented photographers have been rewarded for their talent with the camera in the City of Wanneroo’s Capture Your Wanneroo Experience photography competition.
The competition, which ran from January to March, invited amateur photographers to capture their favourite place within the City within the categories of Coastal and Maritime; and Heritage and Nature. For the first time, the City also ran an Instagram category, using the hashtag #discoverwanneroo2015.
Photographs were judged by an independent judging panel on their ability to capture the unique characteristics of the area, composition, focus, use of light, and creativity.
The judging panel comprised:
- Dave Catley – a local photography expert and owner of Madcat Photography
- Eddie Watling – local tourism expert/consultant, awarded the Order of Australia medal in 2014 for services to tourism in WA
- Martin Smith – representative from the Business and Tourism Development Working Group and General Manager of Mindarie Marina.
Images submitted to the competition will be used in City of Wanneroo publications and promotions, to assist the City to promote the region as a tourism destination.
