The City of Wanneroo’s commitment to building an inclusive and cohesive community that celebrates diversity is evident through contracts with two Western Australian disability enterprises.

In May 2019 the City awarded a new contract to Workpower, which provides opportunities for people with all abilities.

The contract will see Workpower employees carry out tree planting and maintenance services at offset sites, conservation reserves and foreshore reserves throughout the City.

The contract length is two years, with two further 12 month options at $375,000 per year.

The City holds another contract with Workpower for the supply and installation of coir matting, at a contract value of approximately $45,000 per year.

Intelife Group is a disability enterprise the City has engaged to deliver the barbecue cleaning services across the City’s parks and reserves.

The City is finalising a new 12 month contract to continue this service in 2019/20 at approximately $195,000, after it was successfully carried out over the past year.

Mayor Tracey Roberts said the contracts were awarded in line with the City’s Access and Inclusion Plan and Purchasing Policy.

“One of the priorities in the Access and Inclusion Plan is increasing opportunities for residents living with a disability – especially employment opportunities,” Mayor Roberts said.

“We know how important it is to give everyone a fair go, so I am very pleased the City has engaged with these disability service providers.”
