Creatures and Critters at Wanneroo Museum
When: Tuesday 24 September to Saturday 5 October 2024

Hop, swim, or fly into the Wanneroo Museum these school holidays and discover the creatures and critters that call Wanneroo home.
From sea life to farm animals, come and learn some interesting stories from the past. Explore the museum with our fun clue hunt activity, make an animal craft to take home, and check out some artefacts on our hands on history table. There’s plenty of fun things to see and do!
Fauna Friendly Garden Workshop - ages 4+
When: Tuesday 24 September 2024 // 2pm to 4pm

Find out how to make your garden animal friendly in this fun workshop.
Join us for an inspiring workshop led by ecologists Mike and Mandy Bamford and find out which animals inhabit your suburb and what you can do to attract native wildlife to your garden. Explore the Community Garden next to the library to identify appropriate plants and structures you can utilise to provide habitats for animals in your backyard.
Packed with learnings about the environment and helping the survival rate of our native fauna, this is a fascinating session for the whole family not to be missed.
This workshop is supported by Strategic Land Use and Planning.
Slime and Shine - Edible Slime and Baking Day - ages 9 to 12 years - FULLY BOOKED

Children will be creating their own Pirate puppet characters using a range of soft fabric material and the difficulty level of the workshop can be adapted for different age ranges.

Ahoy, me hearties! Welcome to the mysterious world of 'Pirate's Plunder,' where the salty sea breeze carries whispers of untold riches. Your daring crew of treasure hunters has stumbled upon a forgotten pirate ship, the notorious Black Sea Soundrel, rumoured to be carrying the fabled 'Emerald Eye'.
BMX Jam with Freestyle Now - ages 6+

The Youth Team is hosting a BMX Jam at Houghton BMX park.
The Freestyle Now crew specialise in BMX, which is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills. During the session there will be mini challenges and competitions.

It's All About Stories with Lady Marmalade - ages 3+

Have fun going on a special story adventure with Lady Marmalade the backyard goat.
Join us for a special story session with author and educator Shani Graham as she reads her picture book featuring Lady Marmalade, a lovable urban goat.
The book is all about growing food in the city and developing local community. It is aimed at kids from 4-7 years. There is a workshop directly relating to the book that includes a reading, a related song, some seed saving, planting, acting out the book as a play and even tasting some home-grown veggies.
There is magic on every page as Lady Marmalade , the cute main character, features in this story that explores the themes of sustainability and science, with a wealth of numeracy and literacy learning opportunities. There will also be a Lady Marmalade Musical Performance by illustrator and musician Tim Darby.

Nourishing Kids: The Wonderful World of Plants - all ages

Join the Forever Project team as they give children all the tips they need to be great gardeners.
Join us as we host the Forever Project with their Great Gardens legends to show kids all the tricks to become an amazing WA gardener. Learn the value of trees and shrubs for wildlife and all the tricks to make a super tough and beautiful garden just in time for summer. Participants will get goodies for their garden and a seedling to take home and plant with mum and dad or other family member.
Willy Wonka Escape Room - ages 10+

This special escape room puzzle with a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Theme will challenge and amaze you.
Solve Willy Wonka's secret puzzle and find the Golden Ticket to earn a sweet treat from the Chocolate Factory. Put your problem-solving skills to the test in this tricky challenge. Charlie did it and he's sure you can too. PS Watch out for the Oompa Loompas!
Kambarang Art and Deadly Science - all ages

The Noongar six seasons brings us the season of 'Kambarang'.The Youth team will be running a Kambarang art and deadly science session at the Clarkson Youth Hub!
Supporting young people to create some Kambarang inspired art pieces and deadly science experiments whilst learning more about the season.
There will also be a yummy warm lunch and other games and activities to enjoy!
