Walking Through a Songline at Wanneroo Regional Gallery

Follow in the steps of the Seven Sisters and experience the immersive nature of a songline in this multi-sensory digital installation. Songlines, or Dreaming tracks, map the routes of Ancestral beings as they travelled across Australia, creating the land and its people.

Walking through a Songline allows audiences of all ages to immerse themselves in a space where paintings come to life, stories are visualised, and ancient knowledge is shared in a striking and artistic way.

Accompanying the Walking through a Songline exhibition, is a series of Seven Sister story works on display, which were kindly loaned from the Kerry Stokes Collection, Janet Holmes á Court Collection and Gilbert George Collection.

Summer Reading Quest with Cam the Chameleon - ages 2 to 15 years

The Summer Reading Quest is back featuring bookworm, Cam the Chameleon.

There’s something for all ages to enjoy, with a stack of fabulous activities and events happening, and fun prizes to collect whenever your child completes a reading challenge. 

Whether your kids are book lovers or need a little more encouragement, the Summer Reading Quest is sure to be a whole heap of fun!

  • Monday - Friday // 10am-4pm
  • Saturday // 12pm-4pm
  • Closed Sundays and Public Holidays.
  • The museum will close at 1pm on Friday 20 December.
  • The museum will be closed over the festive period from Wednesday 25 December to Sunday 29 December, and also on Wednesday 1 January 2025. 
  • Normal opening hours on Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 December and from Thursday 2 January 2025. 

Join us at Wanneroo Regional Museum these summer holidays for a fun-filled experience centred around the theme of Stars and Storytelling and help celebrate Birak, the Noongar season of the young.

For many thousands of years, campfires have been a place where people gather to share stories and knowledge.

Visitors can explore, play and learn about the night sky and constellations and imagine what it would have been like living in Wanneroo before the lights were switched on in 1954!

Enjoy a variety of engaging crafts, participate in exciting scavenger hunts, and take part in free activities designed for all ages.

Cam's Reading Camp - ages 6 to 12 years

Chameleon Capers - ages 6+

Learn about these colourful creatures from a family that runs chameleon safaris in Africa

Curious about chameleons?  Find out all about these fascinating creatures from special guest Rob Jarvis, pioneer chameleon safari operator from Zimbabwe.

Suitable for primary school-aged children, this event will include a craft session to create a colour-changing chameleon to take home.

Children will need some parent/adult help with the craft.

Berry Bliss - Berry Baking, Smoothing and more - ages 9 to 11 years

This exciting program is designed for young chefs aged 9 to 11 years, who are passionate about cooking and love delicious nutritious treats.

Participants will enjoy a fun-filled day at Wanneroo Youth Centre, exploring the world of berry baking with two recipes to bake, a refreshing smoothie to make along with games and an art activity.

Please wear closed in shoes and bring your own packed lunch.

DIY Upcycling Creations with Remida - all ages

Unleash your creative potential and transform everyday items into unique, one-of-a-kind works of art with Remida's upcycling workshops such as upcycled jewellery making and mini monsters! Remida is a dynamic organization dedicated to fostering sustainability and environmental consciousness through hands-on, imaginative projects. The youth team will also run a variety of upcycling activities such as mini terrariums, egg carton sea turtles and rock art to name a few. A yummy lunch will be provided too.

Bubble Tea and Bath Bombs - ages 12 to 18 years

Treetop Adventure and Nature Walk - ages 12 to 18 years

Walk amongst the tree tops in Yanchep! 

Come on down to challenge your mind and body with a variety of different climbing courses. Challenge your friends or family to see who's the best treetop adventurer. End the day with a nice relaxing walk through the national park and see some native animals.

Work with some special paint and decorate your own chameleon.

Have fun with Glow in the Dark and UV Light paint and markers. Decorate your own chameleon guided by artist and illustrator Cindy Lane and make your creature unique and learn about luminescent colours in nature.

The Noongar six seasons brings us the season of 'Birak'.

The Youth Team will be running a Birak art and deadly science session at the Yanchep Youth Centre, supporting young people to create Birak inspired art pieces and deadly science experiments whilst learning more about the season.  

There will also be a yummy lunch and activities to enjoy!

Cam the Colour Explorer Escape Room - ages 10+

Challenge your group to solve the jungle puzzle and discover a special creature.

Cam the Chameleon uses so many colours to hide from predators like snakes and lizards and blend into the jungle.

Help Cam find all the colours of the rainbow and solve the puzzle. Beware of the cheeky monkeys and the other noisy animals!

The Youth Team is hosting a Skate Jam at Clarkson Skate Park with the Freestyle Now crew who will be there with their BMX, scooter and skateboard skills.

Come learn some new moves and get your shred on. We'll have mini contests and challenges - a chance to show your skills!
