The City would like to remind landowners that stable fly is now a declared pest under the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act 2007 and subject to a management plan. This places a number of new restrictions designed to minimise stable fly breeding.
These include:
- Prohibiting the use of untreated poultry manure on agricultural land
- Requiring specific treatment processes for certain crop waste and residues
- Requiring specific livestock management practices with regards to feed and manure management
