About the position

Reporting to the Team Leader Information Management this role is responsible for providing professional records management and archival service that supports the safekeeping of the City’s records that have long term value.

A key responsibility of the role is to manage the retention and disposal of the City’s hard copy and electronic records in accordance with the State Records Act 2000 and the General Retention and Disposal Authority for Local Governments while ensuring that service delivery is timely, effective and efficient and meets both customer needs and corporate standards.

Archivist Position Description

About you
  • Previous experience in a records/information environment (required);
  • Provide specialist records management duties and advice to meet the requirements of the City's Recordkeeping Plan and the State Records Act 2000.
  • Experience using an Electronic Records Management System (EDRMs) to manage records throughout their lifecycle, specifically retention and disposal of records both hard copy and electronic.
  • Knowledge of the State Records Act 2000 and General Retention and Disposal Authority.
  • Proficient computer skills and excellent attention to detail; 
  • Intermediate communication, customer service and problem solving skills;
  • The ability to work under pressure while staying calm and motivated in a constantly changing environment; and
  • A positive demeanour with the ability to work effectively and constructively as part of a team.
