The candidate successful in this role will be responsible for promoting and protecting public health standards and ensuring statutory compliance with environmental health legislation.

Environmental Health Officer Position Description

About you

As a collaborative member of the Health Services team, the position is accountable for undertaking assessments, site inspections, promoting environmental health objectives and ensuring compliance in accordance with regulatory requirements, policies and organisational objectives. The successful appointee must be adaptable, possess the ability to solve problems and deliver excellent customer service at all times. They must also thrive working in a very busy and change driven organisation and meet the following:

  • Administer the requirements of environmental health legislation to protect public health and provide a safe environment for the community. 
  • Liaise with customers and stakeholders to deliver service excellence, ensuring that information is accurate, consistent, clearly communicated and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to a cohesive team environment by sharing information, supporting and assisting colleagues in a proactive manner to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Think critically and actively collaborate with colleagues and leaders.

You will be able to demonstrate through your covering letter and resume that you meet the following capabilities:

  • University qualification in Environmental Health that affords eligibility for appointment as an authorised officer pursuant to relevant State Legislations.
  • Authorised person and inspector under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 Sections 87 & 88.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role including noise investigation   
  • C Class Drivers Licence.
