We have an exciting opportunity for a new or recent graduate to join our growing council.  By providing hands on experience and targeted training, we’ll develop your capability to develop, manage and promote positive employer/employee relationships and external stakeholder relationships with unions and government bodies.

Your contributions will include evidenced-based research and collaboration via administrative support during negotiations, industrial tribunal preparation and strategy development.

The Labour Relations Officer is a highly adaptable role and represents an outstanding opportunity for those seeking a highly rewarding career.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development of the City’s bargaining and industrial agreement strategies and participating in agreement negotiations and implementation.
  • Providing advice and guidance to the business across a range of labour relations issues.
  • Assist the business in interpreting industrial instruments, employment contracts, employment policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the preparatory work for the City in matters before the WA Industrial Relations Commission.

Labour Relations Officer Position Description

About you

You have:

  • Tertiary qualification in industrial relations, employment law, human resources or similar.
  • Knowledge of the Western Australian and / or Australian industrial relations frameworks.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to develop, manage and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • High degree of passion and ambition.
