About the position

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cyber Security Analyst to join our team to deliver the following:

  • Monitors and addresses daily logs, cyber security alerts and vulnerabilities from our Security Operations Centre, cyber security advisory notices, Microsoft 365 services, endpoint security systems, email security systems, and vulnerability management systems.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to monitor, detect, report, resolve and share cyber vulnerabilities, incidents, threats and trends and/or escalate for resolution.
  • Investigate and assess security breaches within a defined area of responsibility to maintain the integrity of the City’s network and systems.
  • Assist the Cyber Security Specialist with tasks and processes that are required to improve the security of the City’s systems.
  • Research, recommend and implement new processes and ways to improve the protection of the City from cyber threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring business continuity and availability of ICT systems.
  • Contributes to reviewing and developing incident response and disaster recovery plans, cyber security playbooks, processes, policies and practices, ensuring delivery of quality outcomes and results for customers.
  • Assist with regular vulnerability risk assessments and penetration test remediation activities.

About you

The following is a list of skills and experience required to be successful in this position.

Qualifications, Requirements and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Cyber Security, Information Technology, Digital Forensics, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing cyber security and potential threats in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with endpoint and identity protection systems, email security, identity and privilege management, and vulnerability management.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role within a large and complex organisation or enterprise environment is required.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced technical skills in ICT/cyber security including designing, monitoring and maintaining Cyber Security software and technologies.
  • Advanced cyber security skills in a Microsoft environment.
  • Advanced research and analysis skills.
  • Knowledgeable in ICT Disaster Recovery, ICT & Business Continuity, Cyber Security Incident Response, and Cyber Security Frameworks such as the Essential Eight, NIST, and ISO 27001/2.
  • Advanced computing, numeracy and literacy skills.
