The Plan’s overall goal is to create a safe, connected and reliable active transport environment that is attractive to all potential users, with a renewed focus on all modes of Active Transport across the City, not just cycling - See plan attached.
It encourages active transport as a credible alternative to vehicle use for local trips of 0 - 10km, recreational trips and commuting between the home, workplaces, regional / district facilities and schools; and aims to educate the community on the resulting positive health and travel benefits.
The Plan contains a combination of projects identified within the City’s long term financial plan, the City’s Pathways Policy, the Department of Transport’s Long Term Cycle Network (LTCN) & Western Australian Bicycle Network (WABN) grants, major State Government transport projects, known pathway infrastructure as part of subdivisional development and Developer Contribution Scheme (DCP) obligations.
