Information
The City of Wanneroo is currently developing its first Heritage Management Plan (HMP) to support the conservation, preservation and protection of our heritage.
The Heritage Management Plan aims to highlight the importance of the heritage of the City of Wanneroo, before and after early settlement, and will appeal to those interested in history, cultural traditions and practice, research, historic places, parks and landscapes, cultural collections, traditional skills and trades, urban planning, owners of heritage places and cultural tourism.
It sets out a high-level direction for how the City will manage its heritage assets and meet its statutory obligations. This includes the legal requirement to maintain a Local Heritage Survey and a Heritage List. It will also establish a heritage framework that extends across the City of Wanneroo, which includes all aspects of heritage found within the area.
The City has a rich and diverse history with both tangible and intangible places that constitute our heritage. The Heritage Management Plan will ensure these are identified, valued, protected and celebrated. The Plan assists in determining the City’s program of conservation and management and communicates it to the local community and stakeholders.
Feedback invited
The community is invited to be involved in the development of the Heritage Management Plan through an on-line survey.
Consultation is now open and closes on 28 February 2023.
