Talented youngsters to woo Wanneroo crowd

The talented winners are Ashby resident Grace Perks (19), local volunteer Kade De Luca (17), Ashby resident Charli Rose Smith (16) and Darch resident Emma Loveland (16).

Perth Symphony Orchestra will headline our Symphony Under the Stars concert at Halesworth Park in Butler on Saturday 24 February, which will feature special musical numbers with the four winners.

Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken said the concert, part of the City’s summer calendar of free community events, was an opportunity for City of Wanneroo residents to shine in front of crowd of thousands.

“Search for a Star gives young local artists the chance to perform alongside of some of the State’s best musicians, the Perth Symphony Orchestra,” she said.

“The concert is the perfect opportunity for families to bring a picnic, sit back and enjoy a dazzling evening under the stars.

“It’s a fantastic event that brings residents together and connects our community.”

Perth Symphony Orchestra Creative Director Fiona Campbell said they were excited to come to Wanneroo to bring an “unforgettable” night, celebrating some of the best music from musicals and blockbusters.

“We are bringing one of Perth’s star vocalists Mia Mathieson, to sing alongside one of Wanneroo’s brightest stars, Jordan Anthony,” she said. 

“Through the City’s Search for a Star competition we discovered so much talent in Wanneroo – we have invited four of your local stars to join us on stage, singing their very own solos and making their debut with the orchestra. 

“Please come along, be swept away by our gorgeous orchestra and celebrate your wonderful community in style!”

Symphony Under the Stars is a free community event and will also feature food trucks, market stalls and children’s activities.
