Landsdale sporting clubs will soon benefit from upgraded change room and toilet facilities, following the approval of a tender for the works at the City of Wanneroo’s June Council meeting.
Wanneroo Council accepted a tender from Solution 4 Building Pty Ltd for a contract lump sum of $728,482.32 for the works.
The project includes the construction of new unisex change rooms, a first aid room and an umpire's room and the upgrade of toilet facilities in the adjoining Warradale Community Centre.
Wanneroo Deputy Mayor Brett Treby said the new facilities would not only benefit the sports clubs who use Warradale Park for training and games, but also the local community who use the Warradale Community Centre for meetings, workshops and other events.
“The City has worked collaboratively with key stakeholders, including local clubs, throughout this project to ensure we can deliver a facility that suits the needs of all user groups,” he said.
“We’re grateful to have received $600,000 from the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, to help us provide the Landsdale community with this upgraded facility.”
Member for Landsdale Margaret Quirk MLA said she was delighted the project was moving forward.
“Our growing community benefits from facilities like Warradale,” she said. “As local member, I secured the commitment for State Government funding in 2016 and our patience has finally been rewarded!”
Construction of the facility is expected to begin in August and take about six months to complete.
The upgraded facilities will support the other recent improvements at Warradale Park, including the recently upgraded skate park, new jetty and lake viewing platform.
The City has resolved to allocate an additional $308,539 in the 2022/23 Capital Works Budget to fund the balance of the total project costs.
