Twenty eight teams made up of representatives from local businesses and local high schools helped raise $35,200 by hitting the green at Carramar Golf Course this month.

Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City was proud to support YouthCARE’s school chaplaincy program, which provides services at Alkimos College, Butler College, Clarkson Community High School, Girrawheen Senior High School, Mindarie Senior College, Wanneroo Secondary College and Yanchep Secondary College.

“YouthCARE’s chaplaincy service provides school students with pastoral care in a trusting environment to help them navigate life’s challenges,” Mayor Roberts said.

“The City is very grateful to the many local businesses, developers and groups who participated and contributed to this fundraiser. Without their generous support, this event would not be the great success it is.”

Since 2001, the annual event has raised more than $696,700 for YouthCARE.

YouthCARE North Coast Area Chaplain Steve Jansz said that providing chaplaincy services was vital to ensure students, staff and families have the support they need to deal with a range of social, emotional, mental health, personal and relationship issues.

“The Charity Golf day fundraising enables schools to continue to develop their chaplaincy service, allowing them to build upon the positive impact and holistic care that chaplaincy offers each school community,” Mr Jansz said.
