Progress Update - Marmion Avenue widening

Published Monday, 24th February 2020

The dualling of Marmion Avenue between Alkimos and Yanchep is progressing, with major civil works scheduled for completion by 30 April 2020.

Roadroller and roadworks

The project has reached an important phase, connecting works to adjacent developments and bringing long-term benefits such as improved networks and reduced congestion and travel times.

As with any significant road upgrade project, there will be some disruption for drivers, the City has scheduled regular monitoring and traffic management to minimise delays.

Marmion Avenue will remain open during construction and drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes including Yanchep Beach Road, Hester Road and Pipidinny Road, connecting through to Wanneroo Road.

Additional traffic controllers will be in place to manage flows and reduce delays, including daily monitoring at peak traffic times and Variable Message Signs to display alternative routes.

Traffic management will also be in place at the top end of the project in Yanchep, between Yanchep Beach Road and Blackwood Meander, including the Lagoon Drive intersection.

Sections of the road upgrade in Alkimos, between Picasso Promenade and Sanderling Street, including the intersections at Graceful Boulevard and Brindabella Parkway, will be constructed over the next six to eight weeks.

The proposed temporary roundabout at Brindabella Way is scheduled to open for use from 25 February 2020 to accommodate the completion of works at Graceful Boulevard. Graceful Boulevard will be closed from 25 February for up to eight weeks and the City will continue to keep schools and childcare centres updated on progress.

It is estimated that between 12,000 and 25,500 vehicles travel along sections of Marmion Avenue between Butler and Yanchep each day.

The project team thanks the community for its understanding and patience while this significant gateway project is completed.
