What approvals do I need? - Building envelope modifications

Description Reconfiguring the Council approved building envelope constitutes modification to the building envelope.
Do I need approval?

Planning Approval (also referred to as Development Approval) is always required for a building envelope modification.

A Building Permit is not required for a building envelope modification.

What do I need to submit?

Planning

  • A completed Application for Development Approval form
  • Cover letter explaining the proposal and (or have this listed in details on page 2 of the City's application form)
  • A completed Metropolitan Region Scheme Form 1
  • Payment of relevant fees (Refer to City's Planning Fee Schedule)
  • Current copy of the property’s Certificate of Title (no more than six (6) months old)
  • A site plan showing the originally proposed and modified building envelope
  • Geotechnical Report (a certificate from a registered engineer stating that the areas within the modified building envelope are geologically suitable for the construction of a dwelling)
