Wanneroo Aquamotion - Frogs Skills

Frogs 1

Unassessed skills

  • Safe entry with and  without teacher assistance.
  • Walking hands and climb out of pool.
  • Safe jump entry, turn u/water & reach to wall assisted. Climb out.    
  • Blow bubbles – whole face in.
  • Lifts face clear of water for breath (correct breath into lungs).    
  • Open eyes underwater.
  • Completely submerge u/water blowing bubbles and recover object.    
  • Initiate front float with assistance. (3-5 sec).    
  • Front float without assistance (3-5 sec).    
  • Initiate back float with assistance (3-5 sec).   
  • Roll from front float to back float with assistance (untimed).    
  • Splashy kick on front  with noodle (3m) unassisted & face submerged.   
  • Front swim with assistance back to wall.    
  • Front swim unassisted back to wall (1-2m).

Assessed skills

  • Back float without assistance (3-5 sec).    
  • Roll from front float to back float unassisted. (untimed).
  • Self-orientate body into horizontal from standing.    
  • Pulling arms and kick (1-2m) unassisted w/face submerged.

Frogs 2

Unassessed skills

  • Jump and return swim to wall unassisted.    
  • Submerge with bubbles to recover object and push off floor.    
  • Front push and glide (2m).    
  • Front swim lifting face clear of water for breath and continue.    
  • Unassisted front float (7sec).    
  • Initiate front float and hold 5 secs.    
  • Unassisted back star float 7 sec, roll forward & swim back to wall w/assist.    
  • Initiate back star float and hold  5 secs.    
  • Water Safety Sequence – confident entry into and exit from water.  Float for 10-15 secs, with a floatation aid. 
  • Initial front flutter kick w/face submerged blowing bubbles w/aid.    
  • Initial front torpedo with bubbles 3 metres.        
  • Self-orientate body from vertical to horizontal in water.

Assessed skills

  • Unassisted roll from front float to back float and hold 5sec. Front torpedo w/strong flutter kick & bubbles 5m.
  • Front torpedo w/strong flutter kick & bubbles 5m.
  • Front swim w/pulling arms & consistent flutter kick 3m.
  • Push back and glide 1-2m w/HBP.

Frogs 3

Unassessed skills

  • Assisted sitting and kneeling dive and glide. 
  • Unassisted jump, turn & swim to safety in 25m pool & climb out.
  • Continuous exhale in torpedo and freestyle (5 sec min).
  • Initiate front star float 10 secs and swim to safety. 
  • Initiate back star float 10 secs and swim to safety.    
  • Sculling arms and sculling on back in 25m pool w/HBP.
  • Survival swim 14m – front swim 3m, roll onto back & kick 3m, repeat.
  • Water Safety Sequence – glide forward and recover to a standing position.  Float for 30 sec, w/floatation aid. Be pulled to safety.
  • W/aid Freestyle arms clearing water w/strong flutter kick 5m. 

Assessed skills

  • Front torpedo w/strong, effective flutter kick 5-7m.
  • Freestyle arms clearing  water w/strong, effective flutter kick 5m (ideally continuous arms).
  • Unassisted push back and flutter kick 3–5m w/HBP.

Frogs 4

Unassessed skills

  • Guided kneel and crouch dive and 5m freestyle swim in 25m pool. 
  • Initial side breathe and blow with board, walking.
  • Deep water confidence – Tread water and sculling.
  • Confident swimming of Freestyle, back kick and Breaststroke kick drills in 25m pool.
  • Survival swim 5m, Back float 10sec, front swim to safety.
  • Water safety sequence- glide and swim 10m, recover to an upright position. Support self in this position and signal for help.
  • Freestyle breath and blow with board/aid, chin down and strong flutter kick 7m.    
  • Backstroke arms and kick with board 7m.

Assessed skills

  • Freestyle breath and blow with chin down and strong, effective flutter kick 7m.
  • Push back and kick with strong flutter kick and head back 5-7m.
  • Breaststroke kick on back with aid, feet hooked and moving in a circular action 3-5m.
